PLAN A DAY TRIP FROM SEVILLE

Seville is well connected to other cities and towns in Andalusia and there are a few options for how to get around. You can drive everywhere on this list, but if you are not planning on hiring a car there are trains and buses as well as small-group guided tours, where you don’t have to worry about any of the logistics!

Seville day tour quick tips:

  • Book tickets in advance
  • Know there are two train stations
  • Check if the bus is quicker than the train
  • Consider an organised tour

TRAVEL BY CAR

All of the locations on this list can be reached by car and it’s easy to rent a car in Spain. I recommend booking with Discover Cars, they compare and rent cars at very competitive rates – you’ll want a smaller car in this region as the streets can be very narrow in Spanish old towns.

GUIDED TOURS

Some of the smaller villages and scenic sites are only possible to see by car or guided tour. Get Your Guide provides fantastic small group tours around the Andalusia region and you’ll discover hidden gems along the way! A guided tour might be also be favourable if you don’t want to plan out the logistics yourself!

TRAVEL BY TRAIN

There are two train stations in Seville, the newest is Santa Justa, which is the main central station in Seville, you will likely be travelling from this station to the Andalusia region. St Bernardo is the oldest train station and is connected to the metro.

Train Reservations:

TRAVEL BY BUS

Plaza de Armas is the newest bus station in the centre of Seville, it serves long distance routes including the rest of Spain, Portugal and France plus other destinations in Andalusia. The second bus station is Prado de San Sebastian it mainly serves the Andalusia region – check both stations and the travel duration as sometimes they are faster than the train.

2. CARMONA

The charming small town of Carmona is only a 30-40 minute bus ride away from Seville making it one of the closest of the Seville day tours – in case you’re short on time! Carmona offers incredible views towards Sierra Morena and is also another great place for charming cobbled narrow streets, pretty courtyards and history with Roman, Medieval and Moorish landmarks.

Alcázar de la Puerta de Sevilla marks the entrance to the old town and right in the heart of Carmona you can see the various eras, towers and walkways including the ruins of Necrópolis Romana, a must-visit. You can walk around Carmona in an afternoon and easily tick off all the below things to do!

Granada is one of the most stunning destinations in Andalusia, it’s best explored with an over-nights stay, but if you just want to see the highlights this is doable in a day. Visiting the famous Alhambra is the best thing to do in Granada, walk around the palace filled with gardens and stunning views – you do have to book a ticket online and in advance to visit – grab yours here. Alternatively if you prefer a guided tour then I recommend booking this one – note this is covered if you choose the guided day tour from Seville to Granada detailed below.

In a day, you will also have time to walk along the pretty River Darro and wander the white-washed streets of the Albaicin situated opposite the Alhambra. Don’t miss the epic viewpoint at Mirador San Nicholas and the El Huerto De Juan terrace just below it – it was my favourite spot in Granada!

Pueblos Blancos – or the white villages of Andalusia are a series of picturesque small towns and villages renowned for their white-washed houses perched on hilltops with striking views – they are not to be missed.

The Pueblo Blancos make great day tours from Seville, they are quiet and easy to stroll around in a couple of hours. Visit the prettiest villages of Olvera, Zahara de la Sierra, and Ubrique and make sure you include the most unique village of them all – Setenil de las Bodegas as it’s built beneath gigantic rock boulders and is somewhat iconic in this region.

White villages to visit:

  • Olvera
  • Setenil de Las Bodegas
  • Zahara de la Sierra
  • Ubrique
  • Arcos de la Frontera

How to get to the Pueblos Blancos from Seville

Guided Day Tour: Visit the Pueblo Blancos along the way to Ronda with an organised full-day small group guided tour. Tip! It is also possible to take your luggage and leave the tour in Ronda if you wish to stay for a couple of nights – this is an excellent option.

7. ARCOS DE LA FRONTER

Arcos de la Fronter is known as the gateway to the Pueblo Blancos and even though it’s quite small there’s plenty to admire. Like many of the villages and towns in Andalusia, this one also sits on top of a hill with panoramic views and has a lovely historic quarter to wander.

The castle stands tall on the hill and on the way up to it you will discover the white-washed houses, narrow steep pathways, ancient archways and lots of other typical Spanish gems including manor houses, churches and convents.

Things to do in Arcos de la Fronter:
