Are you planning a trip to Split and wondering where the best beaches of Split Croatia are? I’ve got you covered!
Split is known as a fantastic coastal city in Croatia and a gateway to the islands like glamorous Hvar and Brac, just moments away! But you don’t need to travel too far for a few hours of relaxation on the beach; Split has several beaches worth spending time on!
In this guide, I cover the best beaches of Split Croatia, plus what to expect and how to get there!
I’ve been visiting Split regularly since 2012 and have explored just about every corner since, including the beaches in Split. While Split is not widely known for its beaches, I do have a few to recommend – from hidden gem pebble coves to fancy beach club beaches!
Here’s my ultimate guide to the best beaches of Split Croatia – for all those seeking some relaxation time away from the city bustle!
My Top Hotel Picks In Split!
- Le Meridien – five-star beachfront resort with pools & spa!
- Hotel Ambasador – best hotel in Split Riva, rooftop pool, epic views!
- Judita Palace Heritage Hotel – top boutique hotel in a UNESCO location!
- Golden Gate Luxury Rooms – stylish rooms along the Palace Walls!
A Complete Guide To The Best Split Croatia Beaches!
1. KASJUNI BEACH
- Location: Marjan Hill Forest Park
- Amenities: Quality sunbeds and umbrellas, small beach bar and club
Starting with my favourite beach in Split, Kasjuni Beach is located on the South of Marjan Hill, a beautiful secluded forested pine tree area surrounded by nature and high cliffs.
Arriving at Kasjuni Beach immediately makes you feel like you have found the perfect spot! It’s lovely and scenic and the waters are clear for swimming and not only that, there is a very nice small beach club called Jo’s Beach Bar where you can grab a cabana and order a cocktail.
In summer, this pretty pebbly beach cove is popular, so I recommend arriving early to secure and pay for your sunbed spot, also, the sunsets are fantastic here as an alternative to Split’s Riva!
Getting there:
Local bus route, bus number 12 at the foot of Marjan Hill or Uber is €6 each way!
2. ZJAN BEACH
- Location: 7KM South East of Split
- Amenities: Beach bars, sun beds, showers, changing booths, parking, playground
Zjan is a large pebbly city beach just outside of Split’s old town with all the facilities you need for a great day at the beach!
Again, the sea here is remarkably clear and there’s ample space for everyone at this modern beach; locals favour it and for those looking for more, head straight over to the shoreline where you’ll find the cool coastal-decked Taboo Beach Club.
Zjan Beach is a very accessible man-made beach, suitable for every type of beachgoer – just follow the wooden pathways leading from the car park area directly to the beach club and seafront!
Getting there:
Zjan neighbourhood can be reached by bus line 15 or UBER €10 each way (driving and parking is no problem).

3. RADISSON BLU BEACH
- Location: Radisson Blu Resort & Beach
- Amenities: Manicured pebble beach, beach club, restaurant & bar
Radisson Blu Beach is one of my favourite high-end Split Croatia beaches, and it’s not too far from the centre of Split’s old town!
In 10 minutes or less you can escape the bustle for a few hours and relax at the popular Radisson Blu Resort, one of the best hotels in Split Croatia on the beach with a beautiful sea view and manicured surrounds!
It’s home to Mistral bar and restaurant, where you can order a delicious lunch from their seaside menu and bask in boho luxury. I also recommend hiring a beach cabana for a more luxurious experience – there are a lot of sunbed and lounging options!
Note, this beach club is only open from May 1st for the summer season.
Getting there:
I recommend grabbing an UBER, you’ll get there in 10 minutes (€7 each way, approximately)

4. KASTELET BEACH
- Location: Marjan Hill Forest Park
- Amenities: Parking, toilet, changing facilites, showers
Kastelet Beach is a naturally beautiful ‘hidden gem’ beach at the foothills of Marjan Hill Forest Park, perfect for clear water swimming among the pebbles, rocks and pine trees!
It’s undoubtedly a picturesque spot to spend a few hours in and there’s a small beach bar for drinks, but the best thing about this Split beach is the nature.
Just remember to bring your own umbrella/hat, towel and snacks to this beach as there’s really very little shade!
Getting there:
25 Minute walk from Split’s old town, car and park or less than a 10-minute UBER
5. TRSTENIK BEACH
- Location: Trstenik Neighborhood
- Amenities: Sunbeds and beach bar
Situated just before Zjan Beach, peaceful beach Trstenik is a lesser-known beach in Split offering calm waters and a laid-back vibe.
Similiary to Zjan Beach, there’s lots of space to sunbath and swim, the waters are very clear and you can rent sunbeds for the day.
Overall, Trstenik Beach is clean, convenient, and less crowded than the central options, such as Bacvice, which is always extremely noisy and crowded!
Getting there:
Bust line 17, drive and park at the beach, or quick UBER!
6. PODSTRANA BEACH
- Location: Podstrana
- Amenities: Beach club, bar, restaurant, cabanas
Podstrana is the perfect spot for relaxing in luxury, a postcard-perfect location and boasts the only 5 star beachfront hotels in Split, Le Meridien Lav!
Le Meridien Lav’s well-known and stylish beach club – Gooshter is the star attraction along this 16 km pebbly beach. You can visit as a guest and book a cabana for the day for around €30-50, in my experience, it’s worth it to spend the whole day here!
Podstrana is one of the best beaches of Split, Croatia, with clean and crystal clear waters and bright white pebble stones – it’s mostly man-made, but it works!
Note, Split Croatia beach resorts are rare – infact Le Meridien Lav is really the only true resort!
Getting there:
Dive and park, UBER 15 minutes

7. DUBOKA UVALA
- Location: Ciovo Island
- Amenities: Boho-luxe beach club, bathrooms, restaurant and bar
Duboka Uvala is the hidden gem on Ciovo Island, directly opposite gorgeous Trogir! While Duboka Uvala is one of the best beaches near Split, I just had to include it within this round-up!
At Duboka, you’ll find a pebble and rock beach cove with pine trees and shallow blue waters to cool off from the intense Croatian sunshine!
My reason for going to this beach is to spend the day at beautiful boho beach club Laganni, it’s situated in an idyllic location with all-white sunbeds and lounging areas, it’s lovely! I recommend arriving early (I normally get there at 10am!!) to snag the best spot with a sea view!
Also the benefit of going to this Ciovo Island beach is that you can pop by the charming Trogir UNESCO heritage town, wander through the old town and grab a bite to eat or drink on the Riviera!
Getting there:
Bus, Uber or drive to Trogir (30-minutes) Trogir to Ciovo Island – Laganini Beach Club (10-minutes), you can also get there with a private boat rental!

If you’re planning to stay close to the sea, I’ve also put together a curated guide to the best hotels in Split Croatia on the beach, including luxury resorts and boutique waterfront stays.
OTHER BEACHES TO VISIT NEAR SPLIT CROATIA
If you’re looking for other beach inspiration, you’re in luck! Split is the gateway to the Croatian islands and there are many incredible beaches to explore at your fingertips!
Split is a fantastic destination with great connections to other nearby beaches, such as the iconic Golden Horn Beach of Brac Island, charming Solta Island and the Blue Lagoon for dreamy turquoise waters. You are really spoilt for choice, whether you’re driving, using the local ferries or speedboats!
Below are a few of my favourite must visit beaches near Split, including the most perfect Blue Lagoon boat trip, a tour that takes you to unspoilt islands and beaches near Split!
SOLTA ISLAND
Solta is a charming island, just 30 minutes from Split, known for its natural beach coves backed by pine trees and hills. It’s a bit of a hidden gem and a fantastic place if you want to get away from the crowds!
You can get there by hopping on the ferry – it takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the line and times you choose, I recommend booking in advance online. Local buses meet you off the ferry in Rognac, it circles the island and you hop-off wherever takes your fancy! (Stomorska or Maslinica are lovely!).
BLUE LAGOON
A visit to the dreamy Blue Lagoon with the clearest turquoise waters is a must when staying in Split – it’s my favourite spot for swimming!
On this Blue Lagoon speed boat trip, you’ll discover hidden beach coves, secret scenic spots, and a wreck to snorkel among other things. I’ve ventured out to the Blue Lagoon twice and highly recommend it with a private tour for flexibility!
BRAC ISLAND – Golden Horn Beach
Brac Island is home to Zlatini Rat, the most famous beach in Croatia! Simply known as Golden Horn Beach because of its unique shape, white pebble stones and surrounding turquoise sea! It’s definitely one of the best beaches near Split Croatia!
If you’re looking for more of a relaxing day surrounded by stunning beaches and coastal scenery to recharge, you can’t go wrong with Brac Island, it’s a great day trip from Split – and less than an hour away!
You can easily get there via ferry from Split’s ferry port, you must book your ferry tickets online and get a Split – Bol line! Bol is the main village on Brac Island and gateway to the Golden Horn Beach, you can walk from the village along the coastal path in 20 minutes, there’s restaurants and terraces enroute!

BEACHES OF SPLIT CROATIA FAQ
Does Split have sandy beaches?
Split has mainly pebble beaches, sometimes there are large rocks surrounding the beach with a bit of sand inbetween! Also you can get gravel type beaches which I stay away from – they are not mentioned in this post!
What are the best beaches in around Split Croatia?
The best beaches of Split Croatia are around Marjin Hill or further out to the Radisson Blu Beach, which is well maintained – a top beach in Split and 5-star hotel Le Meridien Gooshter beach club! Nearby, I recommend Ciovo Island and Brac’s Zlatini Rat beach.
(In my opinion, the best beach in Split Croatia is Kasjuni Beach within Marjan Hill National Park!)
Are there any free public beaches in Croatia?
All Croatia’s beaches are public, even if there’s a beach club you can still relax at the beach if you don’t want to hire a sun lounger for the day. Although the sun lounger people will be upset if you get too close to the club with your towel – also one of my pet peeves!
Which beaches in Split are best avoided?
Marjan Hill has some of the best beaches – I mention two of them above, but I would avoid Bene Beach, it’s a hassle to get to and it’s not well looked after in my opinion! Kasjuni Beach is much cleaner, scenic and you don’t have to search for it! I would also avoid the city beach, Bacvice Beach, it’s mostly concrete and very loud, it’s not in the slightest bit pretty.
What are the beaches like in Croatia?
The beaches in Croatia are mostly pebble, varying from smaller pebbles to large white stones and some beaches are hard to classify as a beach at all – giant rocks or smoothed pathways where locals lay their towels. You are literally sunbathing on concrete, so for this reason, I always opt for pebble beaches, beach clubs and sun loungers!
