Finding all of these breakfast spots in Tulum was one of my favourite things to do in Tulum – well, it is my favourite meal of the day, and some of them were even worth cycling to!

So grab yourself a matcha and let’s dive into the best breakfast in Tulum hotspots!

LULA’S KITCHEN (Most chic breakfast in Tulum on the beach)

South Beach (Hotel Zone)

MIf you’re looking for a peaceful spot on the best part of the beach with gorgeous sea views, then Lula’s Kitchen (formerly Sanara’s) is your place. I’ve spent many hours gazing at the sea from the pretty deck here!

Lula’s is also one of the best beachfront hotels in Tulum, (a yoga hotel) and their brunch menu is also great! I love the omelette dishes and healthy salad bowls stuffed with greens, they are filling and super healthy! (Tip! There’s a Sunday brunch with live music, which is always busy, but great!

What to order: Omelettes, Mediterranean or poke bowl

LA ZEBRA

Middle Beach (Hotel Zone)

La Zebra, is a vibrant beachfront restaurant and one of the best places to have breakfast on the beach in Tulum! La Zebra is a top-end beach resort with fantastic sea views in the happening part of the hotel zone!

You’ll find on the menu such delights as La Zebra Bircher, plus my all-time favourite treats; lime-infused pancakes with cream and seasonal fruit. La Zebra is also another fantastic spot to spend the rest of the day – get there early and snag a luxurious sunbed and enjoy the tiki bar later on!

What to order: Lime-infused pancakes with cream & seasonal fruit

ALMA VERDE (Best hidden gem Tulum Breakfast spot!)

Aldea Zama (Nr Tulum Town)

Alma Verde is a fantastic spot, it’s part of the brand new Hunab Lifestyle Centre in Aldea Zama and is an excellent place to stop for a healthy breakfast in Tulum – right until 2pm, it’s perfect if you’re staying in one of the hotels in Tulum Pueblo as it’s right along Coba.Av!

I’ve sat on the jungle terrace more than a few times, it’s like an oasis and feels luxurious and the food is equally good! From the breakfast menu, there are cleansing shots, fruit bowls (check out my granola bowl below) and a whole range of pancakes and eggs, I highly recommend the pistachio latte with whatever you order!

What to order: Pistachio or rose latte, home-made granola fruit bowl

ZIGGY BEACH TULUM

Middle Beach (Hotel Zone)

, Ziggy’s is located right on the beachfront, and it’s one of the first places I visited for breakfast in Tulum. With a gorgeous beach set up, friendly ambience, stunning sea views and a fab breakfast menu, it’s hard to resist!

At Ziggy’s, you can order fresh smoothies and berry pancakes (with vegan and gluten-free options), my fave was the mushroom and goat cheese omelette – if it’s still on the menu – order it! Note, the portion sizes are very generous here!

Also, beach beds are available – if you’re looking for something to do for the day, I recommend staying here for a lovely beach day and good vibes!

What to order: Mushroom & goat cheese omelette, banana pancakes with hazelnut cream

MACONDO (Best wellness-focused breakfast in Tulum)

South Beach (Hotel Zone)

If you’re searching for the coolest spot to have breakfast in Tulum, look no further than Macondo on the bohemian south beach, which belongs to one of the best hotels to stay in Tulum; Nomade – with a wellness-focused menu and epic design.

You’ll find a host of Mexican and healthy dishes to choose from, whether you’re in the mood for a green shakshuka, vegan toast, a sweet acai bowl or an everything bagel. You can enjoy it on an outdoor cushion facing the sea with palm trees and floating hammocks. If you stay at Nomade, the breakfast is included!

What to order: Fiesta bowl with quinoa, avocado salad, shakshuka, hummus & veg

MEZZANINE (Elevated sea view breakfast in Tulum)

North Beach (Hotel Zone)

The Mezzanine private breakfast terrace has unobstructed views of the sea; it’s a lovely spot for enjoying a peaceful morning and watching the crashing waves!

I found Mezzanine on my return from cycling to the Ruins from the Hotel Zone one of my favourite things to do in Tulum in the morning – I stopped by to try their avocado toast with house-made sourdough – it’s tasty and presented with alfalfa sprouts, crispy beats, and sweet potato!

(Later on, Mezzanine lunch and dinner menu is mostly Thai cuisine – and it’s great, especially for sunset, it’s one of the best restaurants in Tulum with international flair!)

What to order: Avocado toast with house-made sourdough, queen prawn salad

DISTRITO PANAMERA (Chic brunch spot in Tulum)

North Beach (Hotel Zone)

Another cool spot to have brunch in Tulum, Distrito Panamera is a vintage-inspired beach club with a beautiful chequered pool, rooftop, restaurant and stripped black and white lounge chairs – you can pick any one of those to sit!

You can make a day of it here if you want to, just go for brunch and good vibes. If you arrive early, there are more breakfast items; otherwise, the ceviche, tacos and cocktails are excellent – don’t miss this amazing insta-worthy venue!

What to order: Avocado toast, eggs, distrito salad, panamera sandwich

RAW TULUM (Best casual beachfront brunch spot)

Middle Beach (Hotel Zone)

This little beach shack serves the best-looking smoothie bowls in Tulum! All their healthy breakfast and brunch offerings are like piece of art, while the venue itself is unassuming, Raw Tulum has a loyal following!

There are rustic tables and chairs right in the sand (no shade) or stools at the shack. You can also grab a smoothie bowl at any time of day (featured is the mango one), their health shots and coffee are great here too!

Raw Tulum Beach is located in front of Ahau Hotel (where the iconic statue lives) so you can visit a few places at once here!

MAMA MATCHA

South Beach Road (Hotel Zone)

Mama Matcha in Tulum is famous for its roadside breakfast bowls and smoothies, while sitting on a swing! This casual spot along the hotel zone’s beach road is a fun stop off if you’re cycle along, you can park your bike and stop to re-fuel!

The smoothies and bowls are served all day long, the portion is a little on the small side for what you get, I think the concept is more sort-after than the contents of your smoothie bowl here, but a cute spot nonetheless!

What to order: Smoothie bowls, juices

FRESCO’S

Middle Beach Road (Hotel Zone)

Fresco’s is a fun little place in the middle of the Tulum Hotel Zone, offering a nice ambience with a friendly welcome and beachy seating arrangements!

It’s a casual spot just behind The Beach Tulum hotel, you can sit and chill here for a while and order a variety of brunch items from sweet coconut pancakes to avocado and eggs to tasty tacos from the all-day menu!

LOS BOWLS DE GUADALUPE

South Beach Road (Hotel Zone)

Los Bowls de Guadalupe is a must-try spot along the South Beach, nearby hotel Nomad with an open seating area and even little orange tuk tuk – so you can easily spot it!

I actually discovered this cute place on the way to Nomad Hotel, the area is so inviting, there’s also some lovely boutique shops and tall palm trees here too. It’s definitely worth stopping by for a fresh plant-based bowl – their speciality or a juice, smoothie or iced coffee!

What to order: Fresh bowls, savoury or sweet!

LIEFS TULUM (Vegan)

Lastly, Liefs Tulum also on main Av. Coba is a great spot for a casual brunch – it’s Tulum’s only vegan van 100% plant-based with a sustainable zero-waste policy and it’s so cute!

I spotted this eye-catching green van while cycling around Tulum, it’s not far from Alma Verda and the Hunab Lifestyle Centre, they do all kinds of wraps and vegan burgers, but I loved their coconut latte and banana bread!
