Lula Boutique Hotel is known for its healthy restaurant and yoga studio within a pretty section of the beach, this beautiful beachfront hotel in Tulum is one of my personal favourites, I had the pleasure of staying here in February 2024 and really enjoyed every aspect.
Apart from the yoga, the sun lounging area is nice and secluded and the rooms are light bright and beachy, in-keeping with the theme of the hotel.
Choose from spacious deluxe doubles with large terraces and junior suites with bathtubs, air-conditioning and balconies, there’s even larger rooms for 4-6 people, so it’s a good option for families who want to be on the beach!

MIDDLE BEACH

NORTH BEACH
A peaceful spot for relaxation near Tulum’s Ruins and attractive Playa Ruinas beach with just a few hotels in the area and quality restaurants scattered along the coastline, 10-minute cycle to the main hub.

WHEN TO VISIT
Visit Tulum in the low season, November or February to April, the prices are lower and it avoids the rainy season and seaweed from late April until October. You’ll want to avoid the holiday season in December, Easter and Mexican holidays as the whole area gets crowded!

Sometimes sargassum seaweed washes up on the shore. Unfortunately, this is unpredictable, but normally the wet season is the worst April until October – best to be totally avoided.

CYCLING
Due to the vastness of the beach and long beach road, cycling is the best and most popular way to get around! Most luxury accommodations offer bike hire complimentary to your stay! I loved cycling along the dusty beach road behind Tulum’s main beach and finding hidden gems and boutique shopping!
TAXI / PRIVATE DRIVER
Book a taxi if you’re heading out for the evening (it’s unsafe to cycle at night due to the dark roads and limited bike space). For effortless exploring, I recommend booking a taxi or hiring a driver with your hotel to get to and from restaurants, nightlife hotspots not within walking distance and other nearby attractions.
WALKING
The third option is walking! It goes without saying, you can of course wander along the Tulum beach front to your favourite beachside restaurant, bar or beach club!

Why stay at a beach hotel in Tulum?
Location is everything in Tulum, if you stay on the main beachfront area you’ll be surrounded by all the best restaurants, boho beach clubs and boutiques, you won’t need expensive taxis or $70 sunbeds or see any ugly construction!!!
Instead, you’ll be gazing at the Caribbean sea, sipping cocktails, feet in the sand, while watching the sky turn pink! It is so worth it!
How many days on Tulum beach?
For a relaxing beach holiday, I recommend a minimum of 7 days in Tulum beach. In 7 days you’ll be able to get a taste of Tulum, but if you stay for a few days more you’ll have enough time to visit the main attractions in Tulum and include an amazing day trip.
How to get around Tulum beach?
If you’re staying on Tulum’s South or Middle Beach then nightlife, best restaurants and beach clubs will be within walking distance – along the beach or Beach Road behind.
If you’re staying in the North Beach in Tulum or looking to explore further – then renting a bike is the way to go – everyone cycles around Tulum! I recommend Ola Bike Tulum for bike rentals.
Which part of Tulum beach is best to stay?
The very best part of Tulum beach is South Beach toward the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, it has some of the best places to stay in Tulum on the beach, away from the main party beach clubs.
However, if you want to be close to all the action then choose Middle Beach for nightlife and restaurants.
Does Tulum have swimmable beaches?
All of Tulum’s beaches are swimmable, although, it’s better to swim where there are safety nets in the sea, which keeps the seaweed at bay, which many of the hotels are now adopting!
Note: Seaweed is present from late March until October – the rainy season!
What are the best beaches in Tulum?
Tulum has many nice beaches to spend the day, but my absolute top beaches are Playa Ruinas – next to the Tulum Ruins, Ahau Tulum Beach, a manicured white sand beach, Tantra beach-club – a well-looked after beach, Nomade beach with clear waters.
What is the best place to stay in Tulum beach?
Any of the top hotels on South Beach would be perfect choices, but my personal favourite beach hotel experience is Lula Boutique. I just loved the sea-facing yoga studio! Lula’s situated in a lovely tranquil spot with ocean views, luxury sun beds, wellness and amazing restaurants nearby!

In many ways, lots of beachfront hotels in Tulum are designed for a romantic couples getaway! Small intimate boutiques offering privacy, plunge pools, terraces in the canopies and romantic private dining, you’re spoilt for choice!
But, if I had to pick, my top 3 beach hotels in Tulum for couples would be La Valise, Encantada and Mi Amor, for romantic luxury glamping Habitas Tulum is the best spot!
