A Complete List Of The 25 Best Things To Do In Seville Spain
1. Get Lost In Santa Cruz
Any great city in Spain has an ancient historic town to wander and Seville has one of the best! In the centre of Seville, you’ll find the neighbourhood of Santa Cruz, it’s conveniently located around the corner from the Alcazar Gardens.
Santa Cruz is such a charming spot and one of my all-time favourite areas in Seville to wander and take photos!
There’s a tonne of small restaurants, pretty orange-tree courtyards and squares to stop for a light bite and watch the world go by! Make sure you visit Plaza de doña Elvira, the loveliest square in Santa Cruz!
2. Go On A Luxury River Cruise
Another favourite way to see Seville is to take a luxury river cruise along the Guadalquivir River! As I mentioned earlier, Seville’s old town is magical, and the best way to see it (in my opinion) is from the water!
When I first visited Seville, we went on this private river cruise with haute cuisine, sangria and wine, and caught the sunset at the end of the tour, it was wonderful.
I highly recommend picking an original private tour like this instead of a large group tour were you have no room to move and receive mediocre tapas!
It’s ideal for small groups, romantic couples, and celebrations – book this unique cruise today!
3. Check Out Calle Mateos Gago
Calle Mateos Gago is quintessential Andalusia! If you want to walk down the most vibrant tapas street with lots of atmosphere, you will love this iconic street!
This is the most famous and lively tapas street in Seville, located in the old town Calle Mateos Gago is a fantastic place to explore in the evening, I’ve wandered here multiple times!
4. Try Local Orange Wine
You can’t go to Seville and not try the local Seville orange wine! Orange trees are literally everywhere in Seville, it’s what makes the city so pretty!
Orange wine is a local treat, an aperitif before tapas, lunch or dinner, it’s original, sweet and tasty, you can find it pretty much everywhere in Seville!

5. Visit Seville’s Cathedral
Whether you’re into Cathedrals or not, you really must see this one! Seville’s Cathedral stands tall in the old town, it’s absolutely striking and a prominent feature in Seville – it is not only the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world but also located in the most attractive square!
Visiting the Cathedral is essential, you’ll see the horse-drawn carriages and lots of orange trees here and inside is just as special! It’s very different from all the other Cathedrals I’ve ever visited across Europe AND it is the home of Christopher Columbus’s tomb!
If you do plan on going inside, I highly recommend booking your skip-the-line tickets in advance as spots fill up fast and you HAVE to go up the Giralda Tower for spectacular views over the old town.

6. Have Coffee At Filo’s
Coffee lovers will love Filo! It’s one of my favourite places to get a good cup of coffee in Seville and the location is just perfect!
Just a stone’s throw from the Seville Cathedral down a cobbled alley you’ll find this photogenic coffee shop, if you’re craving avocado toast (very uncommon in traditional Seville) you can get your fix of that too!
7. Watch A Authentic Flamenco Show
Did you know that Seville is home to Flamenco?
Flamenco was born in Seville so of course you must watch at least one performance from the professional dancers inside a cool tavern while in Seville!
I recommend the gorgeous Casa de la Memoria for a memorable experience, it’s simply the best intimate venue and performers!
Whenever I visit Seville I always make time to watch a proper flamenco show!
8. Walk The Top Of Setas de Sevilla
Another fun thing to do in Seville is walk the top of Setas de Sevilla!
Did you know that Seville also has the world’s largest outdoor wooden art installation? Honestly, neither did I, but I was amazed when I saw it, it literally takes over La Encarnación Square!
You can’t miss it and it does resemble the shape and style of a mushroom, at least go and have a look and see what you think!
9. Eat Tapas At Petit Comite
Petit Comite is another one of my favourite finds for great tapas and wine! It was recommended to me by a local and it didn’t disapoint!
This little tapas restaurant is much more upscale than what you’ll find in the bustling tourist areas! It’s a hidden gem with tasty and well-presented tapas in a cosy and romantic setting.
You can choose a table or sit at the bar for something quick, don’t forget to try the octopus with truffle whipped potatoes!

10. Visit The Real Alcazar Palace & Gardens
One of my favourite parts of Seville is the pretty gardens and palaces and the very best is The Real Alcazar Palace and Gardens!
The Alcazar Gardens Seville are unmissable, it’s THE most popular attraction and historical sight in Seville, I love wandering the lush tropical gardens with stunning Moorish architecture and tall palms!
The Alcazar even offers skip-the-line tickets!! This is a huge time saver, especially in the warmer months – sometimes, even if you queue you’re not guaranteed to get in without a pre-booked ticket due to the capacity limits.
DO NOT miss the Alcazar Palace and Gardens – it’s one of the best things to do in Seville Spain – if not THE best thing to do in Seville!
Buy your skip-the-line Real Alcazar entry ticket here!!
You can check out my full blog post on the Alcazar Gardens Seville for more information on how to properly experience the Alcazar Palace and Gardens – Seville’s top attraction!!

11. Wander Around Plaza de Espana
Plaza de Espana is another enormous landmark you cannot miss when visiting Seville!
It’s one of Seville’s most interesting and popular squares to visit, I personally have wandered around here a few times, but have never been inside!
I do love the intricate blue tile details of the bridges and pillars that surround the semi-circular moat, the area is very attractive, especially on a blue-sky day!
AND you can even hire a boat if you wish to float around, relax and enjoy the sunshine and views!
12. Cocktails On The 7th Floor at Querencia de Sevilla
A hidden gem in Seville is this 7th-floor rooftop top bar and terrace, it belongs to Querencia de Sevilla – all the rooftop bars are attached to hotels in Seville!
This one is brand new and well worth searching for, so far doesn’t get overrun with people, instead, it’s calm with a nice atmosphere, a quality selection of cocktails and a panoramic view of the entire city of Seville!
Tip! Querencia de Sevilla is actually a quality place to stay as well!

13. Check Out Casa de Pilatos
One more historical activity in Seville is visiting Casa de Pilatos, another lovely spot to walk around that’s similar but much quieter than Alcazar Gardens!
Casa de Pilatos is decorated in bougainvillaea, mosaic tiles and murals – it’s one of the more well-known palaces with a charming central courtyard.
Its a great place to visit in the Spring time when the purple flowers are in full bloom!
You can purchase your tickets online here.
14. Have Brunch At El Pinton
Not far from the Seville Cathedral is the much-loved lunch spot El Pinton restaurant!
El Pinton has a gorgeous light and airy interior courtyard style restaurant with pillars, arches and a glass ceiling, it’s a lovely space.
Play it safe here with a burrata salad and croquettes to share, although it is a nice restaurant the food gets mixed reviews, however, I have only ever eaten this combination to share with a cold sangria and loved it!

15. Explore The Real Maestranza
Another piece of history in Seville is the Real Maestranza, which is the oldest bull ring in Seville, you can learn about it’s history with a short tour – I have been inside and although I don’t agree with the sport the talk and interior was fascinating!
You can walk along the banks of the Guadalquivir River to get there, it’s also not far at all from Plaza de Espana.
16. Watch The Sunset From EME Terrace
Another must-do when visiting Seville is watching the sunset across the old town skyline. One of the best places to do this is at La Terraza at EME Hotel, where they have a nightly sunset celebration! Here, you will find both visitors and locals toasting the sunset at this epic rooftop bar with direct cathedral views!
This is the most popular place to watch the sunset in Seville, so expect crowds. If you want a good seat, I recommend arriving well before the sunset – as always the case at the popular spots!
Watching the sunset from a rooftop bar with views is one of my favourite things to do in Seville!
For more information of the best rooftop bars for a drink with a epic view, check out my rooftop bars in Seville guide – one of the best things to do in Seville at night!
17. Visit Historic Hotel Alfonso XIII
Hotel Alfonso XIII is a historic 5-star hotel in Seville, a former palace that still has most of its original features, it’s almost like a hotel and a museum!
If you’re looking for a historic place with outdoor seating you can go to the terrace called Ena Sevilla and order a glass of wine, they accept non-hotel guests – then you can go inside for a look, even the bathrooms are ornate, but definitely check out the restaurant inside!
18. Walk Through Maria Luisa Park
Take a walk through the city’s main park, Maria Luisa Park – a city oasis with palm trees and parakeets! Maria Luisa Park is a good place to go on the way to the Plasa de Espana which is directly opposite and a nice little break from the bustle of the Old Town.
19. Explore Triana Neighbourhood
Another ancient and interesting neighbourhood to explore is Triana, this area is quaint and has more artesian stalls than tourism-led ones.
Triana is just across the Guadalquivir and it has lots of colourful buildings and cobbled lanes to wander!

20. Visit Seville’s Oldest Tapas Bar El Rinconcillo
If you want to see the oldest and most traditional tapas bar in Seville then El Rinconcillo is the place, even if you just pop in and not eat there it’s worth a look!
There’s a staggering 3,000 plus tapas bars in Seville so to see an original is quite something! El Rinconcillo traces to 1670 – and nothing has changed! You’ll still find cured hams hanging above the dark countertops and orders are written up in chalk on the bar top!
It’s very quaint and historic and worth a visit, but keep in mind that it is now more of a tourist attraction than anything else.
21. Stroll Around Jardines de Murillo
Jardines de Murillo runs along the exterior of the Real Alcazar wall leading round from Santa Cruz, it’s a nice spot to wander around and escape the busy old town for a bit, the gardens are well maintained and sometimes there’s live music here.
22. Try Home-Made Ham Croquettes
You really can’t pass the old town of Seville and wander around the narrow cobbled streets without stopping for a hand-made serrano ham croquette!
You’ll find tonnes of tapas bars selling croquettes, but my favourites are the serrano ham croquettes, especially home-made, they are traditional to the area and very very moorish!

23. Climb La Giralda For Stunning Views
I’ve mentioned the Seville Cathedral, but if you want to find the best views in town then head up to the Giralda Tower, it’s one of the best things to do in Seville! You’ll be stunned by the epic 360 views!
La Giralda Tower is included with your skip-the-line entry ticket to the Cathedral and it’s easy to reach the top via 35 ramps – originally built for a horse to go up, that would definitely test my nerves!!
24. Order A Tinto de Verano
Try a Tinto de Verano, a type of cocktail instead of a glass of Sangria, it’s similar and made with red wine, usually a lemon soda, ice and orange and lemon garnish, but is more popular in Spain during the summer, you can still order a jug of it to share!
25. Stay At A Top Seville Hotel!
One more top thing to do in Seville before we wrap up is to stay at one of the incredible boutique hotels with a rooftop pool!
Seville is one of the hottest destinations in Spain, it gets incredibly hot in summer and the only way to access to a pool is to actually book a hotel with a pool! Fortunately, there is a lot of choice, my favourite hotels in Seville with pools are Vincci Seleccion and Mercer Plaza Sevilla, but you can check out the full list of luxury boutique hotels here!
Bonus Activities Nearby Seville Spain
If you have more time in Seville, there are couple more places I highly recommend adding to your itinerary!
Cordoba Historic Town
One of my favourite places to visit from Seville is the historic town of Cordoba with its gorgeous flower patios and narrow streets! Located just 45 minutes away Cordoba is the perfect place to spend the day and see another beautiful spot in Andalusia.
Everywhere is walkable in this town and you’ll find plenty of squares, nice restaurants for lunch, pretty walking paths, and stunning views of the Mosque Cathedral from the bridge!
Read my one day in Cordoba itinerary for the best things to see and do!
Ronda And The White Villages
For those wanting to get off the beaten path, visiting the White Villages in Andalusia is one of the most magical things to do in the region!
Ronda is the largest white village in Andalusia, on your visit, you can include a walk around the incredible scenic Balcon del Cono with a spectacular canyon and rolling countryside views.
A full day tour from Seville is plenty of time to see the highlights of Ronda, some cool scenery and visit the charming white villages of Zahara de la Sierra and Grazalema along the way.

Other Things To Do In Andalusia
In my opinion, Seville just scratches the surface of things to do in Andalusia. In fact, I highly recommend extending your trip by taking a day tour from Seville to Cordoba, Ronda, Granada or even Cadiz along the coast, so you can see ALL that Andalusia has to offer.
In these top places, you’ll be able to visit the magnificent Mosque Cathedral, see the Calleja de las Flores (famous flower patios) explore the UNESCO Alhambra and so much more!
