Why stay in Seville?
As the capital of Andalusia, Seville is a bustling place with its amazing flamenco shows, vibrant food scene and incredible historic landmarks, it’s an excellent base to come back to after a day of exploring the region.
Seville’s central location in Andalusia is perfect for getting out and seeing unmissable Spanish gems only a short distance away. In my experience adding a day tour or two from Seville to visit the white-washed villages and historic sights of Cordoba is a real highlight of any trip to Seville.
PLAN A DAY TRIP FROM SEVILLE
Seville is well connected to other cities and towns in Andalusia and there are a few options for how best to get around. You can definitely drive everywhere on this list, but if you are not planning on hiring a car there are trains, small-group guided tours and inexpensive private tours that will get you there just as well! Along with the best places to visit I have also detailed how to get to each place, which is going to save you a tonne of time!
7 DAY TOURS FROM SEVILLE SPAIN
1. CORDOBA
Cordoba is the easiest and most straightforward of all the day tours from Seville (without a car) and one of the best places to visit around springtime when the famous flower displays are in full bloom! As the former capital of the Islamic Empire in Spain, Cordoba is also steeped in history and breathtaking architecture.
In one full day, there’s enough time to explore every historic corner, including a walk over the Roman Bridge to Calahorra Tower and of course see the star attraction; World Heritage Site Mosque Cathedral.
You’ll have plenty of time to relax in the afternoon and visit the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos – a fort-cum-palace with serene gardens and fountains. Also, make sure you stop by Calleja de las Flores, one of the main and loveliest streets in Cordoba old town.
Tip! To make the most out of your day trip to Cordoba, join a guided tour and discover the historical highlights including the Mosque, Synagog and Alcazar. This is the one I booked and recommend, it’s consistently highly rated, English-speaking and covers your skip-the-line tickets.
How to get to Cordoba from Seville:
The best way to spend a day in Cordoba is to jump on the train, it takes just 45 minutes from Seville’s Santa Justa railway station, you can check the schedule and prices here.
2. CARMONA & CORDORBA
Carmona is a good day trip to pair with a visit to Cordoba, as it’s only 30 minutes away from Seville and enroute to Cordoba! If you’re looking to explore more historical places and small towns, this is the perfect duo.
Carmona is a pretty historical town with incredible views towards Sierra Morena and right in the heart of Carmona you can walk around charming cobbled streets, courtyards and see the various eras, including the ruins of Necrópolis Romana, a must-visit.
After Carmona, you’ll continue through the Andalusian countryside to Cordoba and visit the striking Mosque Cathedral. Cordoba is another stunning town to walk around, you’ll have enough time to visit the historical highlights, Roman Bridge, charming flower-filled patios and more!
How to get to Carmona from Seville:
Drive or join an organised tour like this one that includes a visit to Cordoba and Carmona with plenty of time to enjoy both locations. All the logistics are taken care of and you’ll benefit from skip-the-line tickets and a hotel pick-up and drop-off!
*If it’s in your budget or you are travelling with a small group I’d go for a private guided tour with more options, try this one, which consistently receives 5-star reviews!
Don’t forget: Reserve your spot on the Cathedral, Giralda & Alcazar skip-the-line guided tour in advance for Seville! Visit the three iconic attractions in charming Santa Cruz and hidden gems without the queues!
3. GRANADA
Granada is the furthest destination to visit on a day tour from Seville, it’s a three hour round journey, which is just about doable as a day trip. But if this is your one chance to see Granada then go for it! Granada is, in my opinion unmissable, it’s truly a beautiful city in Spain with the best UNESCO World Heritage site, the Alhambra.
Similar to Seville, Granada is also like stepping into a fairytale, it’s one of the most stunning places in Andalusia. A two-day trip would be perfect, but a full day is enough to see both main highlights; the Albaicin and Alhambra including a walk around the palace filled with gardens and stunning views.
After all the exploring on foot, there should be enough time to squeeze in a glass of vino with a stunning view at El Huerto De Juan, this terrace is by far my favourite in Granada!
How to get to Granada from Seville:
Due to the distance from Seville, I highly recommend an organised day tour to Granada. It’s the most straightforward way of visiting Granada in a day and seeing the highlights with tickets and navigation all taken care of, so you can have a more relaxing time and not miss anything!
4. PUEBLOS BLANCOS
Seville is surrounded by Pueblos Blancos, or the white villages of Andalusia. These are a series of picturesque small towns and villages renowned for their white-washed houses perched on hilltops with striking views AKA – the reason why visitors travel to the Andalusia region!
A road trip to the White Villages, is one of the best day tours from Seville, you’ll see gorgeous scenery along the way and historical sites like castles, lakes and vistas. Visit the prettiest villages of Olvera, Zahara de la Sierra, and Ubrique and make sure you include the most unique village of them all – Setenil de las Bodegas as it’s built beneath gigantic rock boulders!
How to get to the Pueblos Blancos from Seville:
As the Pueblos Blancos are not well connected by train or bus you are better off driving. I’d recommend renting a car so that you can stop and explore at your own leisure.
6. RONDA & PUEBLO BLANCOS
Ronda is a spectacular town and one of my favourites built on a deep gorge with jaw-dropping views. It’s the largest white village in Andalusia and probably the most well-known – and for good reason. On your visit, you’ll want to include a walk around the authentic squares in the old town and admire the incredible scenery from Balcon del Cono and Hotel Catalonia Ronda’s spectacular hidden rooftop terrace – with a glass of local wine.
One full day in enough to see the highlights of the old town of Ronda, so to make the most of your journey from Seville, it might be best visited in combination with a couple of other smaller villages such as Zahara de la Sierra or Setenil de las Bodegas they each offer something special.

How to get to Ronda from Seville:
You can easily drive to Ronda, the journey time is less than two hours. Alternatively, join this guided full-day trip that combines a visit to Ronda with other popular smaller Pueblo Blancos to make the most out of the area and see a lot more hidden gems!
Tip! For a small group (2-8), I recommend booking this Private White Village and Ronda Day Tour, it is tailored and receives 5-star reviews!
7. ARCOS DE LA FRONTER
Arcos de la Fronter is known as the gateway to the Pueblo Blancos and as such it’s very popular with tourists and well worth seeing. Like many of the villages and towns in Andalusia, this one also sits on top of a hill with the addition of a Castle and panoramic views and it has a lovely historic walled old town to wander.
You can reach Arcos de la Fronter in just over an hour, it’s one of the easier day tours from Seville and along the way you’ll see gorgeous Andalusian scenery as well. If you set off earlier, you can even visit a couple of other places on the same day.
How to get to Arcos de la Fronter from Seville:
Due to the tricky location, driving is the best way to travel to Arcos de la Fronter – and you can stop anywhere for photo ops! Check the rates with Discover Cars, a trusted car comparison company.
HIRING A CAR IN SEVILLE
As mentioned above, quite a few locations – especially the White Villages are tricky to get to as they are scattered between the hills and valleys of Andalusia. If you want to explore them properly from Seville, you’ll need a hire car!
A self-guided road trip from Seville is the way to go, I personally always book with Discovercars.com. Not only are they reliable, but compare costs across all the major rental car companies so you know you are getting the best possible deal.
Tip! I recommend a smaller car due to the winding roads and parking.
