Taking A Boat Tour In Vis Croatia: Top Tours To Choose From, Vis To Blue Cave & More!

My Top Boat Tour Choice: Boat Tour Vis Island Hopping

We personally chose this speedboat adventure with Boat Tour Vis for our cruise around the island, and it was absolutely incredible!

Our main priority for our boat day was to visit Blue Cave and the Blue Lagoon, plus swim in some secluded beach coves which is why we chose this tour. In addition, the tour was reasonably priced (620€ per group of 10) and had great reviews!

Below, I’ll review our entire day with Boat Tour Vis so you can see if this tour is right for you!

My Top Pick: Full Day Island-Hopping Boat Tour Vis Island

  • Includes: up to 10 Guests
  • Price: 620€ inclusive
  • Departure Time: 10am
  • Duration: 7hrs
  • Rating: 5/5

Our Experience With Boat Tour Vis

We picked this tour because it covered everything we wanted to do in and around Vis and from the water you can see just how untouched the coastline of Vis Island really is!

Our 7-hour adventure began in Vis Town Marina, which was handy for us as we were staying in Vis Town! Pick-up was at 10am, so we could grab coffee before our first stop, the Blue Cave, which was one of our priorities!

For the whole day the timing was excellent, avoiding boat ‘queues’ at places like Blue Cave and Stiniva Beach!

We stopped a little longer than an hour at Stiniva Beach bought drinks and decided to not go to Green Caves as we felt the Blue Cave experience was enough, we were more excited to see scenic nature!

Another stop we skipped was visiting the Military Tunnels as we were not as interested in seeing them, some tours do automatically include going inside though!

One of the best things about this tour was swimming in beautiful beach coves and having them all to ourselves!

Our Skipper Lucca was very friendly and accommodating to our little changes, this is another reason why a private boat is more luxurious!

Our Vis To Blue Cave Experience

As mentioned, Blue Cave is one of the reasons why we wanted to book a boat tour while in Vis, thanks to its alluring clear blue water and glow!

Located on tiny Bisivo Island 40 minutes from Vis, Blue Cave is only accessible by boat, whether you book a private boat tour like we did or take a simple taxi boat from Komiza!

At Blue Cave you pay the ticket office extra (or your guide does) to visit inside, as you can only go in with the Blue Cave Boats, which are much smaller to fit though the opening!

But once inside you are mesmerised by the turquoise blue lights beaming around the cave and the crystal clear water underneath us!

In total we spent around 20 minutes in this spot before we moved on to more sightseeing opportunities and swimming!

Swimming To Stiniva Beach

Stiniva AKA the most famous beach on Vis Island was another real highlight of ours on this boat tour, we arrived around midday, which meant the beach was in the FULL SUN, but it was perfect and dazzling!

Also the boat drops you off a few metres from the shoreline so you have to swim your way there, which cools you off! I thought it was a fantastic way to arrive at Stiniva Beach!

Stiniva Beach looks just like the images, a beautiful beach cove flanked with limestone cliffs at either side, large white pebbles and almost aqua coloured clear sea – and this is why we stayed a little longer!

On this beach, there is a little cabin serving drinks and snacks, which is all you need!

Exploring The Beautiful Blue Lagoon

Another must-see is the Blue Lagoon, it was one of our reasons for booking this boat tour and it didn’t disappoint! We swam along the shoreline of the beautiful bays this area is just filled with unspoilt nature!

Around the Blue lagoon there are pebble beaches, pine trees, pathways and many tiny and totally inhabited islands!

What Else You’ll Experience On This Tour

We were lucky with the weather on our boat day, so spent a lot more time at hidden gem beaches like Pritiscina!

Pritiscina was such as special little beach cove and we had it all to ourselves, it is located on the south of Vis Island, the same as Stiniva Beach – these are among the best beaches on Vis and it has white pebble and limestone around, it’s fantastic for clear-water swimming!

No matter which caves and beaches you choose, this is the BEST speed boat cruise of Vis Island! Book in advance, especially during the summer months, as this tour sells out quickly!!

Other Boat Tour Options On Vis Island

The tour we chose is flexible and customisable with an excellent 24 hour cancellation policy, if however you’d like to explore more tours, here are a few options that have slight variations you might want to consider!

Private Boat Tour Along South Shore Of Vis

If you’re short on time but still want to experience Vis Island’s best beaches, this half day speedboat cruise is a great option.

Unlike the aforementioned full-day tour, this trip focuses on the South Shore of Vis, which is the prettiest area and you still have time to explore the famous caves and swim in the incredible turquoise waters.

I recommend this tour if you have less than 3 days on Vis Island and don’t want to commit a full day to touring around, since it’s only 4 hours long!

The tour also departs from Milna Beach, the main point of Vis Island’s South Coast, and focuses on Pritiscina, Stiniva Beach, Green Cave and the Blue Lagoon!

You’ll speed across the Adratic Sea to Pritiscina and have time for snorkelling and swimming there before making the scenic ride over to Stiniva for more swimming and relaxing on the beach.

There’s an option of going inside the Green Cave then another swim and beach stop at the Blue Lagoon before it’s time to return to Milna!

This is a private tour of South Shore and while there isn’t a meal included the speed boat is spacious and you can bring your own snacks or even bottle of fizz!

(Group or Private) Boat Tour of Vis, Bisevo and Blue Cave

For those who want another option to explore the Island of Vis and around, this 7-hour private boat tour is great choice. It includes the main stops of my top tour, but limits the group number to 4 persons with a private tour, if you are travelling alone you can also join a group tour.

However, it also includes a visit to Smokova and Parga, two scenic spots on Vis Island, unspoilt beaches, cliffs and caves!

Overall, the suggested itinerary is slightly different, but the your guide constantly receives the highest rating and you’ll get to swim in some of the clearest turquoise water you’ve ever seen.

This Vis Island tour is 7-hours and the pick-up is flexible as are the timing, you’ll pay 500€ per group of 4, you get even get dropped off in another location for dinner or drinks and make your own way back!

Other Things To Do On Vis Island

While a speedboat tour as the ultimate experience on Vis Island, there’s no shortage of other amazing things to do. From one-of-a-kind beaches and fascinating historical landmarks to picturesque villages, there’s plenty to discover when you’re not out on the water.

Here are some of the best things to do on Vis Island beyond speedboating!

Visit Stiniva Beach and Other Amazing Beaches In Vis

Stiniva Beach is easily one of the most famous spots on Vis Island! Located on the south side of the island, it’s known for its white pebble-stones, bright turquoise water and limestone cliffs straight out of a painting!

Stiniva is frequently awarded top beach in Croatia and it’s super popular!

It’s a fantastic spot for swimming as the water is extremely calm and clear – thanks to the limestone cliffs!

While Stiviva is the most famous beach, Vis Island is home to several other incredible beaches that are worth a visit.

Srebrna Beach Vis, also called Silver Beach is perfect for those who want a quieter but equally stunning beach with bright white stones and crystal-clear, shallow waters ideal for swimming.

In Komiza you can easily walk from the picturesque bay to Lucica Beach, which is a small pebble beach along a row of traditional stone houses, it’s a must visit when in the area!

Wine Tasting In The Island Of Vis Island

Vis Island isn’t just about beaches and boat tours there’s also a green interior and vineyards to explore!

You can sample the local wine in Vis straight from the rolling vineyards! I love this wine-tasting tour of Vis, it takes you to two vineyards and you’ll get some great views along the way and charcuterie!

Wander Through Charming Villages of Vis Town And Komiza

Vis Island is home to two charming small towns, they are Vis Town and Komiza!

Vis Town, the capital of Vis Island, is a harbour town with beautiful sea views, Venetian houses, and yachts. It’s one of those places where you can just stroll, popping into boutique shops and cozy terraces as you see fit.

The lovely village of Kut is a neighbourhood of Vis Town and the oldest part with charming cobbled stone streets to wander!

If you’re looking for incredible beach, Grandovac Beach is the place to be – get there early for a morning of swimming and sunshine before it gets too hot!

Komiza, on the other hand, is a laid-back seaside village on the other side of Vis Island. It’s a great place to grab a seaside meal at a taverna, take a stroll along the harbor, or even go for a swim on Lucica Beach.

In my opinion, Vis Town is one of the best places to stay in Vis Island, offering a mix of relaxation, good food, and great location.
