Located in Southern Dalmatia, Hvar is one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia and a must see for any first time visitor. While Croatia is known for it’s islands, picture-perfect Hvar is the one that has it all; a charming old town, waterside dining, incredible sunsets and a palm tree-lined Riviera. Not to mention the famous views of the Pakleni Islands from the fortress – it’s like a postcard and after several visits I am still struck by this vision! (Maybe my best Hvar photos have already convinced you).

Beach hopping, waterside dinning and strolling around the old town are just a few of the best activities to enjoy when you visit Hvar Island!

Hvar is home to countless beautiful beach coves, some au natural while others offer high-end dining, a handful of sun loungers, small bars and a lively party or two, be sure to check out Laganini on tiny Palmizana Island and Falko beach bar, just moments from the town square.

On this island, you have the best of all things, for a more laid back experience you can explore the castle at sunset, stroll around the two old towns (the second being Stari Grad on the opposite side of the island) and visit authentic coastal restaurants such as Robinsons Bay.

GOOD TO KNOW…

Hvar is the perfect island for a week’s get-away in the sun – this island boasts the sunniest climate in all of Croatia!

If you’re looking for the best time to travel to Hvar, I highly recommend visiting during the shoulder months, between late May and June or September. These months are perfect for enjoying all that Hvar has to offer (sun, beaches, sunsets, viewpoints, classy restaurants) without the major crowds and bustle.

A week’s stay in the perfect amount of time to include a trip around the popular Pakleni Islands and truly explore all sides of this destination, but even if you only have a few days between islands, be sure to add Hvar on to your Croatian itinerary, you won’t regret it!
