Last updated on October 30th, 2025 at 02:04 pm

If you’re looking for the best restaurants in Korcula and top local wine spots, you’re in for a treat! Korcula is one of Croatia’s most celebrated foodie corners, and in this guide, I’m sharing the island’s culinary secrets!

Korcula is known as ‘the wine island’ and that’s what makes it special, it’s surrounded by turquoise waters and rolling vineyard landscape, the scenery is jaw-dropping – a fantastic place to visit and indulge in good food and wine!

My favourite spot is the old town, it’s home to some of the most charming restaurants in Korčula, from waterfront fine dining to rustic taverns and authentic wineries where you can sip wine for the whole afternoon with beautiful vistas – honestly, you have to pinch yourself!

After spending days exploring the island’s food scene, sampling local specials like Macaruni pasta – and even taking a bike ride through the Lumbarda Valley for Grk wine, I quickly realised Korcula really is the perfect wine and dine island!

In this guide, you’ll find my favourite restaurants in Korčula, relaxed wine spots, and a few food and drink tours worth adding to your itinerary!

Charming seaside restaurants and café terraces along the promenade in Korčula, Croatia, surrounded by pine trees and turquoise sea.

BEST RESTAURANTS IN KORCULA, CROATIA

From romantic over-water terraces to cosy konobas tucked down cobbled lanes, there’s something about dining in Korčula that feels extra special. Here’s the very best restaurants in Korčula, Croatia – places that perfectly capture the island’s best locations and iconic dishes and they are ALL within easy walking distance to the old town.

AURORA RESTAURANT

Location: Korcula old town, promenade

Best for: waterfront spot for brunch

Let’s start with a lovely breakfast/brunch at Auroro right along the waterfront of Korcula Old Town with the giant trees and epic mountain views – on a light summer’s morning, this location is particularly stunning!

I enjoyed this spot so much I went at least three times, on the menu is a decent portion of home-made granola with fresh fruits, Greek yoghurt, juices and coffee as well as a variety of toasts and eggs, and the prices are very reasonable for such a great location!

You can pick a table right next to the water’s edge and enjoy the sea views and a spot of early morning people watching, you can really linger here, which is why I suggest it for a leisurely breakfast, it’s one of the best things to do in Korcula!

RESTAURANT NIGRA KORCULA

Location: Korcula old town, shoreline

Best for: romantic waterside dining

Just down the coastal path from my favourite Hotel and beach in Korcula, you’ll come across Nigra restaurant, which has the most amazing romantic terrace setting over the water with views of the old town in the background. It’s one of my favourite restaurants in Korcula Croatia!

I’ve since eaten here twice, once for lunch and on the second visit they’d just set up for dinner and I had the terrace and solo guitarist stumming hypnotic Spanish-esque sounds all to myself! You might be lucky enough to experience an evening just like this.

You must try the specials, which use locally sourced ingredients; the one I chose was my favourite main meal in Korcula; chunky white fish fillet on sweet potato and the presentation was excellent! Eat here, you will not be disappointed!

LD RESTAURANT korčula

Location: Korcula old town, promenade

Best for: fine-dining Michelin experience

If you’re looking for an elevated dining experience, LD Restaurant is worth remembering! It has a Michelin-starred menu with a fantastic wine list and is part of Lesic Dimitri Palace, situated along the town’s beautiful waterfront promenade.

You can choose the tasting menu matched with some of the best wine on the island, it changes often, but you can expect things like scallops with black truffle with fresh seasonal ingredients used for every dish produced by Head Chef Marko Gajski.

I even ate dessert here, which I never normally do, but the affogato (espresso with vanilla ice cream) was recommended and it came with a little Michelin twist; almond and lemon zest, that I couldn’t pass up. For a splurge, it’s totally worth it!

PENSATORE KITCHEN & WINE

Location: Korcula old town, promenade

Best for: charming dinner location

Pensatore is one of the most charming restaurants in Korcula town, tucked between the waterfront and a passageway to the old town, and it’s incredibly atmospheric.

The setting is not to be outdone by the food, which is also delicious – another restaurant with a mostly Mediterranean menu serving quality local ingredients. I particularly love the touches like homemade focaccia bread and fresh seasonal salads; salads in general are quite rare in meat and fish-heavy Croatia!

You can also order home-made gnocchi and hand-rolled pasta here, which is some of the best in Korcula and if you head to Pensatore for dinner, you’ll be seated among the twinkly lights and fragrant pine trees, isn’t that just divine?!

KONOBA MARCO POLO

Location: Korcula old town lane

Best for: traditional, authentic Croatian

Konoba Marco Polo is a hidden gem set inside a 500 year old historic building within the old town walls, it’s authentic and family-run, loved by everyone!

A real gem in the old town, Konoba Marco Polo feels like warm Croatian hospitality at its finest, a friendly place serving rustic platefuls of home-grown dishes like squid with swiss chard and potatoes served with lemon and the island’s fantastic olive oil.

If you want to try a traditional Konoba while in Korcula old town, this restaurant is one of the best, it has an extensive menu, so seek advice before you order! (I’d like to point out it’s known for serving grilled local fish, but I don’t eat anything that looks like it swam out of the sea, i.e. whole fish, so I can’t comment!).

IGNIS KORCULA

Location: Korcula old town lane

Best for: creative tapas, lunch or dinner

For a change of scene, I can highly recommend tapas at Ignis, a lovely modern restaurant in Korcula old town that serves innovative small plates beautifully presented!

Ignis is tucked away down an ancient lane in the old town with tables and chairs stretched along the cobbles, it’s an excellent find and all the dishes I’ve tried so far have been delicious. I recommend ordering three plates, which you can share over a bottle of wine.

The menu is quite small, but it offers a good variety, including vegetarian dishes like my favourite dish, eggplant tempura with goat’s cheese and honey – a must-try, also the spinach or prosciutto croquettes. I 100% recommend this place!

TOP WINE SPOTS IN KORCULA, CROATIA!

The countryside of Korcula is dotted with vineyards and wineries, there’s dozens of winemakers and the best thing is Korcula’s local wine can only be sampled right here on the island, it’s the perfect excuse to go wine tasting! Try a crisp dry white wine Grk grown in Lumbarda or a full-bodied Pošip from Smokvica, both are fabulous!

Good To Know: The unique Grk wine is only produced in Lumbarda in small quantities and it’s not exported. Nowhere else in the world grows the grapes and produces Grk, so trying it is a must on Korcula Island!

WINE BARS IN KORCULA TOWN

Baric Wine Bar

Baric is my favourite evening spot in the old town; it’s sophisticated and has a few tables that run along the outside of the ancient wall with sultry dim lighting. The ambience and location are perfect for sipping wine into the night and there’s an extensive wine list to choose from.

Bokar Wine Bar

A nice casual wine bar situated down a cool alley with a glimpse of the sea, Bokar Wine Bar offers a range of wines to while away the afternoon, where you can get flights of 3 or 5 different wines. It’s super easy to find and the atmosphere is friendly!

Lole Wine & Tapas

Lole is a popular wine bar along a stone laneway serving a selection of wines from around the island and some casual sharing boards to nibble on. You can grab one of the tall stools and tables outside, there’s only a few so get there early, Lole opens at 5pm.

Mariola Wine Bar

Mariola is a fairly new wine bar in Korcula old town, it’s ran by sommelier and owner Marija, who really finds you the perfect glass of wine! I also recommend ordering the tasty trio of bruschetta with your wine to linger, as the view from Mariola is lovely!

VINYARDS & LOCAL WINERIES

Vitis Winery in Lumbarda

Visit Winery is my favourite in the Lumbarda region (just a ten minute taxi from Korcula Town), it has a wonderful vista overlooking rolling hills, orange rooftops of a small village in the distance with blue sea and mountains all around! It’s perfect for an afternoon of wine tasting – this is where I first discovered Grk wine, which quickly became my go-to in Korcula!

Lovrić Winery in Lumbarda

Lovric is another great family-owned winery in the Lumbarda village next to the sea for wine tasting within an intimate setting, it’s one best things to do in Korcula if you want to learn about the wine-making process and sample different organic wines made on site. Bookings are a must!

Toreta Winery in Smokvica

Smokvica is 30-minutes from Korcula Old Town, a region famous for Pošip, (full-bodied wine) that is also made in small quantities from family-run wineries like historic Toreta winery. I recommend sitting on the terrace, which boasts a lovely view of the village and vineyard, tastings include a lovely light rose!

Want to explore more? Try a Private Wine Tour of Korčula Island – it includes transport and tastings at some of these family vineyards, passing by beautiful vistas.

FANTASTIC FOOD & DRINK TOURS – WORTH DOING!!

Korcula is the perfect island to do food and drink tours! One of my most memorable days in Korcula was a last-minute half day tour I booked cycling through the vineyards of Lumbarda and ending with a wine tasting session overlooking the gorgeous landscape, it was idyllic and something you could not put together yourself.

An organised tour is the hassle-free way of exploring the island’s hidden gems and natural wonders and you can stop by these wonderful vistas and viewpoints easily with a knowledgeable local guide! If you want the same lovely experience to see more of the island’s beautiful landscape and sip authentic wines, there are some fantastic options!

From scenic bike rides through the wine country to private wine tasting tours and trips to Pelješac Peninsula and the ancient town of Ston, here’s my top picks that you’ll love! (I recommend you choose at least one to enhance your Korcula itinerary if you’re staying for a few days).

Private Wine Tour Of Korcula Island

If you’re looking to spend a lovely afternoon immersing yourself in the wine culture of Croatia, then you’ll love this private wine tour of Korcula Island to two incredible wine-makers!

Setting off from Korcula Town, this tour takes you through beautiful countryside, villages and sweeping bays on the way to Smokvica (that not many people get to see), where you will discover the culture and rich history of Posip – generously hosted by the winemaker.

At two well-renowned local wineries, there’s the opportunity to taste delicious wines with sharing boards and great company, everything you came for! I honestly think everyone will enjoy this classic wine tour experience; It’s great value and much more rewarding than moving around the island via taxi!

Korcula Scenic Bike & Wine Tour

One of my most memorable adventures in Korcula was this morning bike riding tour I took from Korcula Old Town across to the stunning landscapes of Lumbarda!

We set off from Korcula with a small group on professional mountain bikes (no E-bike options sorry!), but don’t worry, it’s very manageable – even for me, who does not typically bike anywhere! Cycling through scenic vineyards with nothing but rolling hills and blue sea all around is so idyllic, and the pace is leisurely so that you can take pictures of the fantastic views!

At the end, there are two wineries for wine tasting (Vitis and Popic winery) among the gorgeous vineyards (check out my pics below!). I genuinely loved this little tour and group, our guide was super friendly and knowledgeable about both the area and wines!

Pelješac Peninsula & Ston Wine & Oyster Day Trip

Peljesac and Ston are two incredible spots for fresh oysters, wine, ancient villages and lunch cruises! I love this full-day tour from Korcula, as it covers both areas incredibly, and you’ll get the VIP treatment with a hassle-free private vehicle and expert guide, which gets you off the beaten path!

You’ll first visit Medieval Ston on the mainland for fresh oysters and ancient walls – the second-longest defensive walls in the world, which you will discover firsthand, and get to try the delicious fresh oysters straight from the local farm.

The next stop is Pelješac Peninsula, a place where authentic vineyards cascade down rolling hills – perfect for wine stops and lunch on a boat, which is included in the price. Your guide also takes you to the best viewpoints in the area!

(Although I haven’t done this tour from Korcula, I did do a private trip from Split to Dubrovnik, that stopped in these two exact places and I thought both were well worth spending time in.)

RESTAURANTS IN KORCULA – TIPS!

Book Ahead In Summer

Korcula’s most popular restaurants fill up fast in July and August – especially the waterfront spots like LD Restaurant and Pensatore Kitchen. If there’s a place you’ve been thinking about, make a reservation a few days in advance.

Time Your Meals

Locals often dine later in the evening, so if you prefer a quieter atmosphere, aim for an earlier sitting around 6:30–7:00 pm, which is actually my preferred time!

Must Try Food In Korcula

One of the best things to do in Korcula is to try Makaruni, a hand-rolled traditional pasta from the island often served with beef or prawns in tomato sauce. Special fish dishes, as they’re going to be the freshest you’ve ever tasted!

Wine Tasting

Wine tasting on the island of wine and wineries is a must-do! For the most memorable experience book a wine tasting session at one of the vineyards in Lumbarda, home of Grk wine. Vitis Winery is my favourite, the location is idyllic (see the images in this post!)

Tip! I recommend an easy wine tour to make the most out of your visit, you’ll see more of the area and it avoids having to get taxis.

Bring Cash (Just Incase)

Most restaurants take cards, but smaller, family-run taverns (konobas) sometimes prefer cash.

RESTAURANTS IN KORCULA – FINAL THOUGHTS

Korčula truly is a dream for food and wine lovers – a place where you are guaranteed to have great food and drink experiences. It is my personal favourite island to wine and dine in Croatia, they do it so well!

Whether you’re sipping a crisp Grk overlooking the sea or enjoying a fantastic meal in the Old Town, the island’s relaxed Adriatic charm will definitely win you over – or the wineries certainly will!

If you’re planning a trip, don’t stop at the restaurants – there’s so much more to explore on this beautiful island. Check out my other Korčula guides to help you plan the perfect stay:
