Dubrovnik’s old town offers some incredible dining experiences, from long lunches on the water’s edge to atmospheric historic rooftop terraces with award-winning menus – and after years of travelling to this destination, I’ve had the good fortune to sample some of the best!
Visiting Dubrovnik old town is by far the most popular thing to do in Croatia, exploring the historical sights and stunning coastline – and rounding off your day with a lovely lunch or dinner really is the cherry on top!
So in this restaurant guide, I’m sharing the very best restaurants in Dubrovnik Old Town, my favourite picks to add to your itinerary!
BEST Restaurants In OLD TOWN Dubrovnik With A View
NAUTIKA RESTAURANT
Location: Pile Bay
When to visit: Lunch or an hour before sunset!
Nautika is one of the most popular and highly rated restaurants in Dubrovnik Old Town set within a top location just outside the city walls. This extremely photogenic Michelin-starred restaurant offers three private terraces, stunning sea views and a historic landmark – Fort Lovrjenac.
It’s full of old school glam right down to the crisp white tablecloths and piano, making it the perfect classy couples venue, there’s romance in spades here, especially just before sunset – the sweet spot!
My favourite meal off the menu was lobster tail with barley broadbeans, sun-dried tomatoes and celery lobster ‘jus’ – which I already had planned before arrival! Be sure to make a reservation in advance as the terrace fills up quickly, especially during the peak summer season.

ABOVE 5 RESTAURANT
Location: Dubrovnik old town, rooftop
When to visit: Lunch or early dinner
Above 5 restaurant sits on top of a 16th-century building in the heart of the old town and the views are as wonderful as you would expect from such a privileged location amongst the orange rooftops!
This is one of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik old town by far, with fantastic service, and it belongs to none other than Boutique Hotel Stari Grad, which is also one of my top three places to stay in Dubrovnik – it’s beautiful!
But the great thing about this elegant rooftop terrace is not only the location but the delicate plates of food; the menu here is super creative. Take my advice and order the chilli prawns if they are still on the menu!
Above 5 is a must-visit for foodies and sightseers alike, book a table here if you prefer smaller venues with shorter menus!

GRADSKA KAVANA ARSENAL
Location: Old Town Habour
When to visit: Breakfast or lunch
I really like Gradska Kavana Arsenal it was one of the first restaurants in Dubrovnik old town that I visited, it’s elegant and historic – with a tall ornate ceiling, and even though the location is set within a prominent spot, the service and food are still great!
Gradska is a must-visit for breakfast on the terrace with a gorgeous harbour view – sit on the front row for the best experience! At this time of day, the ambience is perfect, not overly busy at all, and they offer a lovely three-tiered breakfast option, which is ideal for those slow mornings – or even special occasions!
Afterwards, you are in the perfect spot to explore the coast near Dubrovnik or, as I like to do, hop on a boat and head over to Cavtat, the prettiest place on the Peninsula!

Gradska Kavana Arsenal
RESTAURANT 360 DUBROVNIK
Location: Ploce Gate
When to visit: Lunch or dinner
Restaurant 360 is one of the most highly acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurants in Dubrovnik old town, known for its innovative cuisine, cool decor and stunning 360 panoramic sea views – hence the name.
Located on the top of Dubrovnik’s old town walls, the restaurant offers a wonderful outdoor setting with amazing food to match! Careful attention is paid to locally sourced ingredients alongside some top original dishes served a la carte – or you might want to try the tasting menu for around 170 Euro and pick a wine pairing from the best looking wine list in Croatia!
360 maybe on the pricier side of things (okay, eye-wateringly expensive), but it will be one of the most memorable meals, attentive service and experiences you’ll ever have in Dubrovnik old town. Reservations for special occasions are highly recommended.

PROTO RESTAURANT
Location: Charming old town lane

Family owned, Proto Fish is considered the best seafood restaurant in Dubrovnik Old Town – it’s been on the go since 1886, a must-visit for anyone looking for an upscale dining experience with a speciality menu and stylish terraces (including a hidden rooftop one)!
This restaurant offers a range of fish dishes from salt-baked to Croatian seafood specialities – personally, I thought the seafood pasta was to die for, but with such an extensive menu and sides, I recommend sharing a few things!
Proto has an excellent reputation and is loved by locals, tourists and celebrities alike, so be sure to make a reservation in advance as this popular place fills up quickly.

SUSHI AND OYSTER BAR BOTA
Location: Dubrovnik’s Cathedral
When to visit: Lunch
If you’re looking for a light or quick lunch, head to the first-ever oyster & sushi bar located across from the city’s beautiful cathedral.
Pick your high stool and indulge in fresh oysters or sushi while enjoying the views of this intimate terrace within a lovely, quiet corner – it’s one of the best little restaurants in Dubrovnik Old Town.
There are many small plates to choose from, and each is delivered like works of art – it’s the kind of place where you can easily add more to your order as you go on, and the best thing is the prices are not crazy high either!

FORTY FOUR RESTAURANT
Location: Next to Stradun
When to visit: Lunch or dinner
Forty Four is another small restaurant tucked away within the heart of the old town, offering a warm welcome, nice ambience and top quality – Italian-influenced food!
This restaurant is particularly well known for its homemade risotto and pasta dishes, don’t miss the signature risotto with pesto truffles and scallops, or the fresh salads drizzled with olive oil, it’s one of the best risottos in Dubrovnik!
I’ve eaten here a few times, I think the pasta dishes are out of this world and the surroundings very lovely, you can sit here for a while sipping wine long after your meal!

RESTAURANT DUBROVNIK
Location: Central old town
When to visit: Lunch or dinner
Another classy restaurant, the unimaginatively named Restaurant Dubrovnik, is ideal for a fancy lunch set within a secluded corner near Green Market Square – you would never know it was there unless you’re looking for it.
As soon as you set foot into the charming inner courtyard, you are greeted with the most well-dressed tables and attentive waiters designed to make you feel very special indeed!
Choose from the chef’s tasting menu or order à la carte, and don’t miss out on the crunchy ravioli with baby beef ragout – it’s another pricey place, but propably worth it!
Reserve your spot on the swanky terrace in advance, there is a reason why it’s often named as one of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik old town!

LUCIN KANTUN
Location: Old town cobbled lane
When to visit: Lunch or dinner
Lucin Kantun is one of the top Dubrovnik restaurants, and family-run places specialising in small plates and inventive tapas – served across a charming narrow passage away from the bustling crowds.
It’s a really lovely romantic spot, ideal for couples, especially in the early evening or even for a quiet lunch – the portions are just the right size for sharing two or three over a glass of wine or their signature lavender gin!
The restaurant focuses on traditional Croatian cuisine produced from high-quality fresh ingredients – and you can tell, I recommend trying the spinach filo pastry and the black risotto – a local delicacy, so tasty!
